someone took laptop to different office. changed from domain to workgroup to access their printers and resources etc.
now, all his offline folders etc are missing.

1)where are offline drives/folders etc stored
2)er, anyway of getting his domain profile to er, load while not on a domain?

2)you should be able to trick it into loading your profile if you set the domain to the original domain and unplug the network cable.reboot and login. *should* work.

1)as to offline folders,i have no idea where they are stored.tried to search for them but to no avail.

cant set the domain to the orginal domain becuase when you try to find the domain, it is not availble due to not being in the office.

you could try right clicking My Computer on the desktop, properties and click on User Profiles tab. The profile should be there for the old domain (the profile your trying to log onto).

Copy it to a location on the HD (copy to...) and rename if you want. Then create a new user account on the 2k machine locally through the control panel Users and Passwords. Log into that new account and then log out again (to make the profile folder).

Now log onto the local admin account and copy the profile you just copied to the HD into the Documents and Settings folder, you may need to be in Safe mode to fully copy all data from the profile...

Now reboot and log onto the copied account

WWM, Outlook Offline folders are always saved in a file with extension of .ost

Worth doing a search for this and try opening it from within OL.

Obviously worth trying all suggestions above as well.

i was going to say creat a normal user account and copy the domain profile onto the new account(after you have logged on and off that new account)

it would be something like this
    %systemroot%\documents and settings\doman.profile
    %systemroot%\documents and settings\new.user

copy all the domain.profile subfolders and files into the new.user directory.dunno if this will work.more than likely not(youll have to set the new.user with the same access rights as the domain.profile)
    just a though
