Nokia 6310i Datacable/BT Question

I've picked up a cheap DAU-9P cable for nokia phones but find it is not the one that I'm supposed to use with my Nokia software suite and my 6310i. It looked the same and it was only €10 so I thought I would take a shot.... As I find out tho, not all cables are the same-

Is it possible to use the cable with some change in the software? Or am I stuck with having to lay out €50 for the Nokia brand DLR-3P cable?

Also, I picked up a Bluetooth dongle which sees my phone via Bluetooth Neighbourhood, and lets me set up 'dial up networking' and make a data call, all very easily - but for some reason the Nokia Sofware suite can't use it to see my phone. Any experience with this one?

the DAU-9P was the cable bundles with the nokia data suite

(aimed at the 6110 and 5110 handsets)

you can try a non-nokia original accessory cable from several online vendors to see if that is any cheaper, a google search should bring you back some results

For a blutetooth conneciton, the supplied Nokia software was limited to work with their DTL-4 Bluetooth Card, which was suddenly decomissioned and vanished from their website a few weeks back. Nokia have since transferred PC Card development back to Socket (which they were really only rebranding anyhow).

People have got the supplied software working with the Socket Card (via the DigiAnswer s/w interface) which the Nokia Connection Manager will recognice and use.

Went looking for a hack / modification to get the Nokia Connection Mgr work with the 6310(i) over the BT serial port with the adapter I use (TDK USB), but haven't found one yet.

On the 7650 there is an additional connection application that allows you to select the BT Serial Port and allow BT comms with the 7650 software suite. However it's a delicate set-up, in that a manual serial conneciton has to be set-up before the applications are launched, and you need to terminate the BT connection on the handset. The BT Adapter, phone software and/or the connection software need driver updates to work better together.

If they can include this "conduit" for the 7650 suite then hopefully they will include it in a future version of the 6310(i) sw.

    HTH,
    Brian G
