In Portlaoise, it's Delaneys all the way! Deadly pub :)

Gearoid (Butch) Horan's in Mountmellick is fairly decent or failing that, Dempsey's, especially when the Lush FM lads are in.

    The Dead Mans Inn, Ballyfin.

    Very Professional.

Sure it only had a mens bathroom up to a few year's ago (ladys were directed outside) but its such a great pub.

I used to love the tack room during lunch. A nice pint and a game of pool.

If you're ever in Banagher (around 8 miles from Birr, tis big with the tourists), pop into Houghs pub (red facia, covered in ivy, beer barrels strewn about, mangy dogs running in and out, you know the type) - around 9 in the evening, this mental one and her band play trad music for the tourists...its one of those experiences that have to be seen to be believed.

    Nice pints tho :)

Raynors in Athlone has to be up high on the list. It's a victim of it's own success though. Never enough seats at the weekend. The Female talent is absolutely unbelievable. (especially if one sits under the stairs ;) ) And the music and craic upstairs is always good. Tack room and Castle Inn are good spots too.
And of course we can't forget Brownes of Moate. Underage drinking-capital of the world, and an ideal place for a pint while wating for Silvers, sorry, "Club S" to open.

    Pubs in Portarlington

Anvil Inn: Great pub, best beer in town, always a nice crowd aswell.
After Dark: Another good pub - good for live music.
The Continental: Not bad - alterntive to the 2 above.
Weighbridge: Nice pub - only for a quiet pint though.

    Pubs in Tullamore:

Brewery Tab: Grat pub - a bit small but always good
    No. 1: Good spot also.
Bridge House - not too bad either - though past it's best i'd say.

Ramsbottoms in Portlaoise is mobbed on Thursday nights.
Guy with a guitar and a good atmosphere.

In Portlaoise theres a little known spot called Little Havana. Its above Delaneys off-licence on main st, most people think its just a wine bar but actually its a gorgeous place, very well done out, SAVAGE MUSIC, cocktails, pitchers of beer, live music and theres a really nice crowd that drink there. Definatly recommended.

Ita's in Fore, which has to be seen to be believed. The freezer is the size of a Volvo and has the capacity of a shoebox, and the whole place smells like tractor. Yeah baby...

Caffreys in Oldcastle is fantastic as well.

    in Tullamore:

Brewery Tap is a great spot, as is Dempsey's. #1 is **** and the bridge house.
    DeBruins isn't bad.

    In Kilcormac:
have to go with TomTom's pub Feighrey's, nice black stuff! Dooley's good to.

    Dan & Molly's is legendary!
