Got me a tux booked. It was deadly, I went in and they called me sir. Most places seem to be doing discounts if you're going to a debs.

i've gone to 2 debs this summer and another one coming up wednesday! they never asked anyone for id!

Ours are there too on the 15th! Except the tickets were €75 muhahaha! (I actually thought it was quite reasonable, because initially they were going to be like €150, but they changed the venue). Its meant to be nice (he Luas is nearby!) or so say our debs committee ...

    :)

That's my debs too... just trying to work out who you are now ;)

I was at mine last week and you had to queue to get a band that said you were 'certified 18', signed contract too!! I'm only 17(just turned). I got served before we ate at a small bar. We then moved to the main disco place and they NEVER asked anyone for I.D. Why would they? They want to make as much money as possible out of people who's main objective is to spend €80+ on booze. They made a fortune out of us, bottles of bulmers(less than 400mls) for the price of pints. WE hired security for drunk people so that's more money saved by the establishment.
If they ASK for I.D. at a debs they are
    1. Law abiding dry sh*ts
    2. Obviously not in it for the money

    That is all

I'm wearing a kilt to my debs. A while back me and my friend were joking about it (least I thought we were joking about it) then he went and got the f*cking thing and I can't leave him hanging by himself. It's gonna be interesting to say the least

Well I went to a debs last September and you needed ID - if you didn't have ID you needed a note signed by your parent/guardian saying that they knew you were there, and with a phone number so they could contact them if you got drunk! Luckily I was 18. Hahahaha sucks to be underage

No idea what I'm doing on this thread, but I saw this...last I checked, a kilt to rent was around 120! So eh...good luck?

I`ve been to 4 debs so far and generally they`ll ask for ID and for you to ign a contract and stamp you, bu it actually dose`nt matter anyway cause they never check if you are stamped or not. I think if a Hotel accepts debs they will be leniant on the ID thing. Its not a thing you should be worried about.

Well went to my debs on tuesday. Best night ever!!!!!

We had it the Ambassador out in Naas, Kildare. The place itself was big, good bit of space and the dancefloor is big well for 120 people it is. Downside was the food and that was a big downside cause after the meal everyone got up and went outside to get some air cause there was something wrong with it. It killed loads of people. Breakfast was alright but after a night of drinking and all that it dont go down the best. We had a band first after the meal and then a DJ which was what everyone was waiting for. The band was in no uncertain terms S*** but I suppose anything is music when your off your face!!!!! :D We left at about 5:15 or so from the hotel got back at about 5:50 thanks to the M50!!!! Stayed out for about an hour then went in to my bed. Money really wasn't on my mind so I didn't care I just bought the stuff.

On the ID thing they did ask but they didn't care if u didn't they just let you go but if u did they photocopied it and let u go.

If I was ever invitied to one again I would try for a helicopter just to be different and really enjoy the night since a limo from Bray to Naas wouldn't be that nice since all you would be seeing is building sites and road works.

I've been to two debs so far - Athenry Pres, and my own, Móinín na gCíseach. At PCA's, no-onw got asked for ID after the meal, even though we were told that a 'strict ID would be operating at the bar'. At my own, we were asked for ID going into the ballroom, but not at the bar. I didn't have to show my passport, I was just let in. They let you into the room without ID though. A bouncer said to a friend of mine: "Don't get caught with drink." So basically it was really easy to get drink.

I am going to Ashbourne CC's debs on Wednesday, so I'll keep ye posted!

Let me get this straight. At 2AM people would wake up people's parents to tell them their son/daughter was drunk? How pathetic.

Just had my debs last Thursday. It was alright, nothing spectacular, and I strongly urge guys to wear a kilt to their debs, it's so much fun.

Yup, at the Red Cow Inn. I got the impression that it was more of a formality though so they couldn't be accused of facilitating underage drinking - anyone I was talking to who was under 18 had no problem in getting drinks and as far as I know no parents were contacted. But the idea made me laugh

Mine's costing €97 methinks... That's for trousers, shirt, jacket, bow-tie, and cuff-links. I gotta get an orchid for the date too, which is €13. This is in Black Tie, btw.

Really that would be a good place for a debs in the city center like!!

How much will that cost each of ye for a ticket??

Just wondering does your schools do fundraising coz where i live the whole LC year is spent organising events and stuff to raise money!?

no no fundraising far as i know but then it is pres and the fancy ass "image" they wanna give off probably wouldn't suit it. I think it will be around 40 r 50 but we had to pay 10 of it a few weeks ago. Ya it would be good, just stumble out and up to leisure plex for breakfast! as long as dont fall off that boardwalk thing! Seriously tho they had a problem at first getting insurance for us cos they thought that would happen!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 50 ✭✭Taffy89

^^Thats exactly what I first thought when you mentioned the Clarion..hmm if that was my debs how many people would be stupid/drunk enough to do that..? Well knowing me I prob would..
Anyhu..Yeah one school I know they all go down to the beach afterwards to watch the sun rise..I'd love to do that!
