As I've said in the FFX thread, I generally always end up loving underdog characters or those that everyone else tend to hate...

No particular Order:

- Guile (Charlie / Nash), Street Fighter Saga
- Edge, Rival Schools
- Peco, Breath Of Fire 3
- Alucard, CastleVania X
- Albert Wesker & Barry Burton, Resident Evil One
- Luigi, Mario Saga
- Dizzy The Egg, Dizzy Saga
- Jet Set Willy (:D)

Gah, I can barely remember some of my old classic game favourites, but they'll come to me.

- Arthur Pendragon from the (Staff of Karnath, Entombed, Blackwyche and Dragonskulle games on C64)

- Guybrush Threepwood (monkey Island games)

I have a soft spot for Square characters, because they tend to put a lot of work into developing them. In terms of psychotic Square types, Cloud (FFVII) and Fei (Xenogears) are favourites; the new trend for actual cheerful characters has thrown up Zidane (FFIX) and Tidus (FFX), and then you have the older stoics like Auron (FFX) and Citan (Xenogears).

Female characters tend to be weaker, but Aya Brea (Parasite Eve) and Aerith (FFVII) are both worth a mention.

In terms of more general game characters, Alucard (Castlevania: SOTN), Sonic (millions of games) and Klonoa (various Namco titles) are particular favourites. Mario, Link and Samus all stand out as particular favourites from the Nintendo catalogue as well.

Oh... and for villains... Sephiroth can't be beat

I seem to recall a past flooded thread debating this point, so I wager it'd be best not to start another one... Sephiroth, best villian... I can definately accept that!

Who, in your mind, have (Overall) created the best characters over the years?

Square have made some deep characters.

Capcom are renowned fighting game guru's, hence they can get away with churning out character after character without any real plot or background (Just some printed text in a game manual), but then again they did come out tops with the Resident Evil series...

Infogrames? (ROFL) Edward Carnby was probably their only half decent character...

Very few will doubt that square make the best charecters, but i like a good few others

-Kane (red alert,what a bad guy!)
-Sepiroth (FFVII, dunno if hes a better bad guy than kane,but still very cool)
-Bowser (most mario games)
-Ryu and Ken (all{?} of the streetfighter games, the only ones with a history aswell)

I cannot stand Ken... In fact I cannot stand any character that always has a cocky, arrogant, self absorbed "I am the best" type persona. Guile was an extremely moody and broody **** (Which suits me to the ground), and in 'my opinion' was capable of simply destroying anyone and anything in any Street Fighter Game with such ease...
