alrite guys and gals!!

was wondering if any of ya's would be willing to help me out here,

about 2 weeks ago i downloaded a file, i opened it up in w.m.p. an nothing happened!, and turns out it was a virus that ****ed up all my files on my pc, this bn it changed them all to **** and i couldnt open up a single thing,

Im after losing bout 2500 MP3's

anyway would anyone like to give me a dig out??

have you got rid of the virus?

yep formated my pc, and i had some backed up but not everytin,

cant remember the virus and cant remember wat the files were changed to,

any help??

sounds like you were hit by the same thing that killed my pc a while back, downloaded a .vbs without realising and ran it, silly silly boy that i am. turned every mp3 on my machine to .vbs files, and then if you tried to run an infected file, its spread to a different file type. by the time i shut my pc down everything on the harddrive was useless so i had to format her

if you've formatted the hd then you've lost everything that you didnt back up:(
try posting this one the ms apps/os board, you might get some more helpful replies there

lost 90% of my files a couple of years ago, 2 days before i got my cd writer:(

same as that, i get new virus definitions every 3-4 days as well. bastards to download over 56k:(

that virus taht turns all files into a duplicate file with a ".vbs" extention is a different version of the famous "i love you" virus

i found out the hard way when i was downloading an mp3 in my old job and infected about 30 pcs at the same time!!!

ah well **** 'em all!!!!

anyone know any good virus scanners/protection programs that i can get? prefarably free ones, i lost all my mp3's on my other computer and i don't want it happening again.

I have Norton zippedup here if you want it.
I'll let you download it off me(27.7MB Zipped full version), I'll also give you access to the mp3s on my PC so you can download what you want off me.
