Anyone know of any powerful but silent cooling fans out there? I have a ThermoEngine V60-4225 on my Duron 750 at the moment but although it keeps my chip nice and cool its throaty growl is starting to get to me.

IU find the coolermaster fans quiet. You can get them at komplett or from Maplin. I have my AthlonXP running on one and its very quiet....untill I added another fan to the back...which made it noisy :(

    Try http://www.quietpc.com/home.php for some products.

Zalman coolers are ment to be good.

You could try an Alpha PAL 8045 with a 80mm Papst and you pc would be nearly silent depending on hard disks and psu fans

A mate of mine has a zalman and swears by it. he did have some stability issues though and has RMA'ed his mobo and proc. He has not got a replacement yet but I doubt the zalman was causing the problem....

check out www.overclockers.com for a very good comparison test which includes noise levels.

and www.sidewindercomputers.com have audio files for all their coolers, so you can listen to them yourself. i see they've now added noise graphs, very nice touch :)

you can always get an excellent heatsink like alpha or swiftech, and just put a quiet fan. some of them sound like drills, i don't know how anyone can live with that in the room!
