judging by your name you might be interested in linux support. I've never heard of the atmel chipset. The two best supported chipsets under linux are the hermes and the prism2. I wouldn't bet on getting that bluetake card working under anything except windows.

excellant. if you buy one, would you let us know how well it performs in linux? If it supports AP mode, if it's a nightmare to get working, etc etc,
    cheers,

Linksys WAP11 (non v 2.2) access points use the atmel chips too.

I have Smartbridge USB Wireless NICs, there based in the catc chipset as far as i know but no luick with em under Linux.

Also have Buffalo (orinico/hermes chipet) and Linksys wpc11 v3 (Prism3 chipset) PCMCIA cards.

Both cards work perfectly under Linux (and windows) but only the Linksys cards work as AP's under linux (Linux HostAP)

Prism stuff was the only wireless gear i could find info on AP mode under linux.

    Sirlinux,

I don't suppose that those cards support an external antenna?

Havent tried taking it apart yet, but by default no, i havent seen one of the pc card ones yet so i dont know about them, there is a marked punch out area on the back that does look amazingly like the space that an antenna out would go, might try taking it apart at the weekend, ill let you know.
