I actualy find the small amps usually have great sound.
But if I was getting another amp for my guitar, it'd still be a Laney.
The sound is just so ****ing great on my little one.

Anyway, I'm gonna get a little more anal here...

    I use:
    D'addario 10 guage strings
    Jim Dunlop 1.mm and Pro-Plec 1.5mm picks
    Fast Fret for cleaning strings/fretboard
    Glasses cloth for cleaning strins/fretboard
Cloth I got with the fast fret left fluff, which annoyed the hole off me.
And I got this Gold Plated lead from Music Maker... ****ing hell, it's brilliant!

It says Marshall and looks exactly like a Valvestate except it's not, it's a solid state. In the Marshall catalogue it says it's a Park series. It's not a great amp but it does the job for the time being.

i know the ones, i used to have one, in all honesty they aint the worst but they have the disadvantage of blowing up so id look into a replacement asap.
i had a 50 watt park for bout a year till it popped, they use marshall cases and they used to use celestial speakers if i remember correct i think the biggest problem with em is the electronics stuff. but if it works for yah thats cool. do you use it for gigs or just practice?

Posting the tunings of your guitar..hmm anyways on another note

"We were some where in the middle of the desert when the drugs kicked in...." - Johnny Depp, Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas"

    incorrect bosco.

its actully "We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold"
And you could say Depp said it in the movie ya..but..it was written by Hunter S Thompson..

And Park is not a Marshall, and an Epiphone is not a Gibson,if you believe otherwise your sadly mistaken..the high end Epiphones are nice but their 'Les Paul' isnt comparable

    *shrug*

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭bombidol

my point exactly with the equipment.
i posted up the tunings as they rarely get tuned otherwise and its probably a bit more crucial than what size pick you use;) although dont get me wrong , that can be important too

I use it for practice and used to use it for gigs, with the new band I'm in I'm gonna borrow a proper amp for giging. I bought it when I first started playing guitar. I went into the shop and asked for an 80W Marshall and that's what I got, I had no idea that there were different models (I had only been playing about a month or so). Hmmm so it is a Park, ah well, I'm gonna get a proper amp as soon as the funds come my way. The electronics are absolutley cack, the clean channel is very noisy, the amp sucks donkeys balls all around but what can ya do.

Both guitars are tuned down 2 whole steps (C,F,Bb,Eb,G,C)

And finally, Nemisis, cheers. That quote came from memory so I figured I'd get a msg saying it was wrong at some stage, to lazy to look it up :D.

Got myself an Ibanez RG 470, I replaced the bridge pickup with a Duncan Custom and redid all the electronics. Mainly play through a Line6 POD into my computer but I have a JCM 800 1x12 combo also. Class amp. And a Crybaby.

Also have a Pearl Rhythm Master Drum kit, (learning the drums)

BTW I guess the guy who said he tuned down 2 steps is a SOAD fan? I tried that tuning for a while (Actually it was dropped C tuning ala Deer Dance etc) but it was impossoble to play. Strings all over the shop.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭bombidol

Yeah Drop C can be a pain in the ass to prepare your guitar for ,but when you get it right its sounds fantastic. if you are playing metal or heavy rock of even some punk its essential.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 221 ✭✭black_wizardd

It's actually Hatebreeds tuning, I am a system fan though.

Im gonna kinda take a few steps back from what I said originally about park amps..if it sounds good use it..if it suits you use it,just be wary of the build quality.

At the end of the day..when your playing live ..all you amp is gonna be is your monitor,it will be mic'ed up and lashed out through the P.A.

Hell if your playing ten years with the first amp you ever bought fair play..if thats the sound you want. Expense doesnt necessiarly make something 'good'.Im sure a PRS Dragon is a hell of a nice guitar..but if you can pick up a second hand Fender Squire for 150 quid and it suits you ,and you can get the sounds you want from it,whos to say which guitar is better?

Are we not seeking our 'sound' ? Is there a 'gear head' mentaility developing, along the lines of 'label heads' ? I dunno im kinda going off on a tagent so im gonna shaddup...

    All the best..
    NeM

True, ive heard the crappest looking guitars produce a fantastic sound, and the same goes for amps, just beware of the thing blowing up like mine did.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 221 ✭✭black_wizardd

I'm well chuffed with all my gear except the amp. The distortion is decent enough (lacks the kick of a Valvestate though), my main problem with it is the clean tone, it's so bad, it crackles and makes weird noises and sometimes switches to the distortion channel :). Also, sometimes when you turn on the amp there's no sound at all, a good firm thump sorts that out though :D.

Yep, just read that back to myself and decided that I definatley need a new amp.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭bombidol

Ahh.. if youre a system fan you wont be needing that clean channel anyway:D

Feck... I forgot that I had a drum kit! Not much of a one... actually its as basic as you can get...

Precision Percussion (can't remember the exact name of them).
Yamaha acoustic (forget it's name too!).

I use Dunlop .6 pleqs (fugging hate hard ones!) and I use D'Addario .9 Gauge strings.

I'll get the names of the drums and my acoustic when I get home.
