Restoring mising vxds to Win98SE

My browser just crashed taking the PC with it, on reboot
Win98 would'nt load due to several missing or corrupted vxds.
Sure enough when in safe mode I checked - they were all gone!
I rebooted and am up and running but not sure for how long!

I have located all the missing files on my Win98 disk, should I just extract them to the systems folder then re-boot?

    Mike.

Try running the system file checker, start - run - sfc

I've run SFC (why dont Microsoft tell you about these features?).
And it did'nt prompt me to browse for files to restore so I supose it thinks everythings alright. But the files are still not visible when using Find. Hmmm

I notice you can restore the whole shebang from the default file
which turns the clock back to when Win98SE was installed, should I use that or just plough on regardless and do nothing?

Make sure you have windows explorer set to show hidden files and system files, as otherwise VXD's and the like might not show up in your search.
