xp1 service pack buggered my pc

    as the subject says i tried installing xp1 on the pc on Saturday & buggered the pc good & proper, it copeed that I was using a less then legal copy of xp & gave me a fatal exception error, so I did the decent thing & installed a legal copy of xp pro but now I 've no icons or no listing of programs in my start->programs can anyone help cause I don't really want to install 60gb's worth of stuff on again.... Ive tried going in to the root dir & trying to open the apps there but won't let me strangly enough... please help for the love of god :(

    new OS, new registry, not much you can do... try looking up microsoft.com/support for relivent info, but I doubt you'll ......

    If you installed a licenced version of XP ,what programs are youe xpecting to find???

    As its a new install the registry keys belonging to yoru 60 GB are gone.
    So you had to reinstall them anyway.

    Or maybe i dont understand what you mean.
    But if you reinstalled XP most of those programs have to be reinstalled.

    But you should have known that b4 you installed it as you were in effect sending the registry back to its install state which had no programs only the ones on the Xp cd.
