    PRESS RELEASE
As founder member and main songwriter with the group NEW MODEL ARMY, Justin Sullivan has written, recorded and performed more than 250 songs. Across seven studio albums he has sold in excess of 1.5 million records but still remains honest and uncompromising. Ignored by the mainstream and misunderstood by the media the band have a vast world-wide army of dedicated followers to whom the songs, and the passion contained within them, are as important, if not more so, than the group themselves. In fact since founding partner, Robert Heaton, recently retired on health grounds, Justin is now the only original member of an evolving line-up which has seen 14 personnel changes in 16 years. These changes have done nothing to dampen the audiences enthusiasm.

Paralell to the group,Justin also maintains a very active solo career. A tour of Scandinavia in 1995 resulted in the critically acclaimed album "Big Guitars In Little Europe", where NMA's and others songs, including Neil Young's "Keep on Rocking In The Free World", were stripped to the bone by Justin and NMA guitarist Dave Blomberg. This success is being repeated in 2002 when Justin is taking to the road in Europe and America, but this time with multi-instrumentalist (and NMA keyboard player) Dean White

Well read and very widely travelled, Justin hails from a family of intellectuals, poets and artists. He has always had a passionate interest in both politics and history, which has lead to his well-documented activities in support of many social causes. Over the years this has seen him active in support of British mineworkers, European anti-fascist groups, road protest organisations, the homeless and most recently raising awareness of the plight of asylum seekers in the UK - increasingly the victims of vicious and unprovoked racially motivated attacks.

With touring and promo for NMA's eighth album "EIGHT" taking up most of 2000, 2001 is the year where Justin concentrates on work outside of the band. A touring rock band is a large and expensive machine to run and this has prevented NMA visiting many of the territories where smaller numbers of fans exist or where the economic climate is not as strong. By stripping the songs down and taking Dean along, Justin is able to perform a powerful set of NMA and solo material to an audience that would otherwise never get to see the band.

2000 closed with sold out NMA shows in London and Koln, where they played two nights in each venue with a completely different set each night. This was in celebration of NMA's twentieth year as a live band. There will be selected NMA shows in 2001, but Justin will be concentrating many on solo work - including a long awaited debut solo record.
