Appologies for my surreal reply I thought you meant how many were looking to join, not already in. I thought everyone knew it was 15, after all if you count the stars on the flag you see, er 12...

That is because when the EEC became the EU there was originally 12 members.... Therefore Twelve stars to signify the 12 founding memebrs...
