newcomers question on joystick control

    Hi ppl

    New to the world of emulators and have a few games downloaded that bring back the memories, what I need to know and havn't figured out is, how to you set the games up to work with joystick controllers, the games in particular being 1941, rtype2 and twincobra.
    I prefer joystick control over keyboard but just can't seem to get it sussed.

    What emulator are you trying to use for a start? We'll work from there eh:)

    Methinks he is using MAME.

    If that is the case, go to Options->Default Options. You should see the various tabs, one of them should be controllers. Click on this, and under Direct input you should see a tick box for the Joystick. If this is greyed out, you may not have the joystick conencted (this got me for a while).

    If that is not the case, then please ignore what I have just said.:D

    yes its mame alright but not mame 32, I dont think I have the options option on this one but I'm going to get mame 32 as its seems easier to get to grips with, or is there better
