How much for a decent one?

What specs do I need to pick up TV3 and TG4 well?
Any chance I could get a TV bootser to recieve the english channels?

You should be posting here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=56 :D
But your question cannot be answered unless you say where you are.

You can get an indoor wideband uhf aerial from argos with an amp or from peats for less than €50 which will in Dublin get you all the 4 irish ch's fairly good.

for anything else in the fair city, ironmongery may be needed...! but if you have a coastal view to the northeast over Dublin Bay, a simple grid aerial and ampwill get you fairish BBC 1 and 2 UTV and Ch4 from Kilkeel in Co. Down but not Ch5.

Alternatively with the same gear pointed roughly (trial and error) direct across the irish sea may get you the welsh versions of the same from Arfon, near enough to Holy head.
That works well all along the East coast south to Gorey.
If you are lucky enough to live along that coast line theres a few tx's you could aim for and get good enough reception.

Best solution of all is the Sky digibox with BBC Card if you live where you can install a sky digibox as once it's installed it's free :) and in digital quality.
    More on that here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37638

Now off over to ICDG with ya:D
