Communiual Sky Dish and Installtion

    Hi All

Hope you could answer me a question.

I have a communiual dish installed in my flats, cause I live in the country. I have a FTV card to watch channels cause I was waiting for €ircom to install the phone lines. Anyway I have the phone line and a SKY card and a digibox. Which would be easier get the contractor out and pay the €75 installation (because I never actually paid for the box, and its new) or get my installation done over the phone through SKY, and pay no installation. I dont see why the installation should cost €75 cause I installed it myself (box sent to me in post) and the dish has already been there. Another problem, the contractor could contact me, I havn't heard from him in a while also, it has been 8 weeks and heard nothing from him, but I know he would have to pay for the box's and the last thing I want to see is anyone out of pocket!!. Who can help?

    Thanks

I have a vague understanding that you need to have a special lnb on the satellite (dual? quad? more than one?) to view on more than one digibox at a time (and Sky+ too? Sorry, I forgot, I wouldn't know that - I live in Ireland). Besides that, what I do know is that if you phone sky, you'll have to get a new twelve month contract. Is installation free now? I got it in July of last year and it cost £50. We missed a £25 installation by a day

Also if the satellite is already there, chances are its analogue.. which means a new lnb anyway, and it'd have to be changed from the 19.2 E group to the 28.2 E group. Mind you if you've been watching with an FTV card then that's already sorted.

I don't think you need a phone line (yet) for Sky, seeing that their Active services are only starting to take effect in Ireland.
