Ok, i'm trying to install a new hard disk for my mate.
The system is a dell dimension 8100.
The disk is the Western Digital 80Gb, with 8Mb cache etc.
Anyway, i can't get the bios to recognise the drive.
When i try and use FDisk, it says there are no fixed disks.
    I'm basically stumped.
    Any suggestions?

u'd probably need to buy a new pc to match the hd, the Dell won't be up to it :P

update the bios, check the quantum website also for drive manager software. Use 80 pin cable.

    Problem sorted actually.
It was a problem with the jumper settings.
It would only recognise the drive with no jumper at all.
