    Uhm, from what i remember, international text messages have always been double the cost of a 'normal' one.

    The price changes depending on where you are, and what network. I queried some mad stuff on my bill, and that was the explanation I got. It can also change depending on the mood of the network at the time - recently I was away, and was charged 16c for some messages and 13c for others. It was all to do with 'recognising' what number you were sending the text to......

    That 25c is just a blanket safety net for people who roam in the backarse of nowhere.

    this isn't roaming
    this is sending a txt to a mobile in another country

    MiCr0 is right, it has nothing to do with roaming. Interconnect charges have been introduced regardless of your location:
