Learning PHP

Is there any good books, courses or resource sites (im aware of the 2 links in the sticky).

I know html and have used javascript and things like that, but in no great detail.

So, from a newbie, to a junky takes how long and what does 1 need?

Professional PHP4 multimedia programming

PHP Pocket reference

Professional PHP programming


Regarding how long it takes to learn it really depends on if you'ver ever studied any other languages and how much you know about web technologies.

If you have a good grasp of programming methods you can pick up PHP very quickly.

I used these two books to completely rebuild the backend for www.thewalls.ie in under a week, nice and handy

I dont necesarrily agree with all of what logic1 said, I mean I just picked the books up and worked and learnt on the fly, and it seems to have worked out ok for me.
