Bubble vision

I have just bought a cheap & cheerful creative Geforce 4 mx420 graphics card for my PC & it has a habit of crashing programmes & putting the "pincushion" seting right up on my monitor, which makes everything bubble shaped. This is most annoying. Can anyone help?
