I was running a duron 1.1 and while a decent cpu the cache is just pathetic :o

spend a bit more and go for a t-bird/XP

    go for an XP CPu.
It will kill you if you buy a 1.1 duron and then find a 1600Xp for similiar price.

I know when i went in to buy an 1400 (all i had cash for ) i came out with a 1900 (weird)

komplett or the parts shop close ti Central Bank (name escapes me) have cheap ones

the kt7 doesn't support the 133 bus of the XP cpu's (the kt7a was released to do that)

Well I wouldn't buy from that site, it is priced way to high. try see if you can get a KR7a 133R (RAID) should cost the same on an irish site and is alot better

Which site is priced way too high? Anyways, you are gonna have to go for a 100/200 mhz bus cpu, and get the latest bios for the kt7.

Well they have it listed for $139 US. then you have to pay shiping on that from the states. That will cost you. Even IT Direct have a better price than that. €139 for a KR7 and €159 for a KR7a 133 RAID. now thats a good price. the KR's are great boards. If I compare it to my old Abit KT7, then its the KR7 hands down.

    Sys Spec:

    KR7a 133R
Athlon XP 2200 (unlocked A core)
    512 DDR mem PC2100 Cas2
    Ge-Force 3 Ti500 (Creative)
    SBlive 5.1

    FSB 150x 12.5 = 1879MHz

    he already has a kt7

if u're gonna go for a new abit athlon board than the kd7 is the one to get, uses the newest chipset, the kt266a is ancient now :)
