Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    smell/reek.
The fumes can fill a room.

I have them for about 3 months now and ive stopped wearing them due to the odour. i dont even use them for running, or in the gym.

None of my other runners or shoes smell badly or have ever smelled so much that i made a point of saying it to someone.
I said it to one of my friends and he said his nike runners smell aswell.

so i put it to you, do your nikes smell?

I don't like Nike. Wy don't you get some footpowder, obviously the runners aren't allowing your feet breathe enough.

I also think this is the most rediculous post I've ever seen on PI.

Try putting baking soda in them

Take your shoes off as often as you can. I really dont think runners are designed for being worn more than an hour or so.

    maybe it is ridiculous,
    no wait it is.

    but my nikes still smell.
    whats a good shoe deodouriser?

and what is baking soda supposed to do?

Get some Scholl footpowder or something, and maybe some new insoles. Don't know what baking soda will do!

    use 'Odor Eaters'

it both a foot power (soaks & freshens all day tbh) and a shoe spray

Try choppin' yer feet off! You'll not be able to get about as fast, but a least you'll have solved the odour problem!

yeah i think theres a certain type of material that, when it come into contact with sweat, reek. my brothers runners reek of cat piss, even though thats not what caused them to reek.

Go long chain Carboxylic acids!!! thats what makes the smell

They smell like this because its the glue Nike use to seal their runners
its not really the sweat that brings them out, its from walking in wet weather, and once the smell catches on, the worst thing you can do is throw them in the washing machine, just makes them worse
But the way I see it, the more you spend on those Nike rip off runners, the quciker they get smelly of cat piss.
I also think its some sort of scam they do aswel, so you're pushed into buying another new pair..

    (worst topic too)

There's always those ozone machines. Kills bacteria and neutralises smells.

Go see a doctor, you might have a bad case of invisible foot fungus.

Then I ROTFLed. Imagine everyone came up with such simple(!) solutions to life's problems.

    It is what it's.

I have a pair of Addidas falcon runners which I bought for about IR£35 ~5 years ago.
They're still in pretty good shape, albeit fairly raggedy and there are holes in the toes, but they never once smelled bad, they were as light as feathers on my feet and looked class with a pair of decent jeans.
    I fookin loved em.
And now all i see are ghey new designs in the shops.

BRING BACK THE OLD BLUE FALCONS WITH THE FOAMY-TYPE SOLE! THEY WERE TEH WIN!

I don't really buy runners anymore.

A good pair of shoes or boots will be far better for your feet over time.

The only reason I'd wear runners for is sports/training or something like that.

Even if your shoes smell after a long day wearing them by the time you've had them off for half an hour things will be back to normal.
