Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Am seriously thinkin of setting up a Big Feet club for those of us with big feet and the big problem we have getting big footwear for them! To make larger shoe sizes more easily available to us. Would there be any takers?

    It is what it's.

Same with most cars. I used to drive a Carina that had a foot rest beside the clutch. If I rested my foot there my shoe would get caught by the cluctch pedal when I needed it. Not good, not good at all!

speaking for the females, I'd like to ask for a list (and phone numbers) of those with size 16 feet...

BTW, anyone ever hear that the size of your feet (for a woman) determines the ease with which you'll give birth. Small feet means much pain!

Depends on the runners.. i'm an 11 and try to get thin runners just for driving, just drive in my socks loads of times as well, much more comfortable.

Get some skater shoes, from Converse or DC Shoe Company as they're usually huge and bulky for comfort.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

13 - Yeah Heathers (?Spelling?) is good. They go up to a 16+ Damn inconvenient location though. Although I must say i'd probably visit there once a year or so.

By the way who is the proud possessor of the size 16's? Good god thats large, how tall are you?

[edit] oh yeah and if your measure from the joint inside your elbow to yur wrist i.e. your forearm, it is your foot. EXACTLY. I'm telling you its true.

    12/13 depends on the shoe.
Pain in the ass trying to get runners.
For some reason shops dont want to stock sizes bigger than 11, and going to six different shops to get a pair of runners is not something I enjoy doing.

The reason why I asked is because I'm only a 3 (even though I'm 5 foot 8). So I'm remaining childless!

    12/13 here

think its around 13 in runners for some reason

Quite the opposite I'd say! At least it's pish easy to get a size up to avoid all sorts of pain.

Course that's just the physical pain...

    It is what it's.

\o/ size 14, who wants a kick up the ass?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 43,045 ✭✭✭✭Nevyn

    ok it could be worse
    I'm female and have a size 8 1/2 to size 9 foot
if i wanna buy docs no hassle but the vast majority of shoe shop ladies styles only run to a size 71/2.

And that is exactly what the staff say " Ladies Styles ...."
like hello what am i an ogress ?
Forget about trying to buy prettly floaty strappy shoes
( yeah ok they kill you and never think of breaking them in before going out and dancing in them for 8 hours),
but the point is damnit i should be able to buy them and not have to fork out € 300 for them in a shop that looks like they sell shoes for Trannies and have up to a size 11 in Ladies styles !!!

it is the same even with ladies boots size 71/2 or size 8 is the max.
I really resent having to spend the guts of a day out shopping for 1 pair of shoes for a wedding, when i could be doing more importent things like playing ut , finishing the book i was reading painting the house anything constructive or at least mildly enteraining

You have to say though... big feet are useful to have when you are in a conversation with a good looking woman. Like today I was talking to one of my friends who is very attractive and here is the dialogue to the conversation...

Friend: "Jayzus your massive you make me look tiny."
    Me: *smirk*
Friend: "And as for your feet! Jeez what size of shoe do you take?!"
    Me: "Size 13."
*at this moment we both look at each other and smirk*

I was going to say the usual "you know what they say about big feet" comment, but it wasn't really the right situation to say that. I was fairly pleased with how that conversation went! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,389 ✭✭✭✭Saruman

Hmm it depends on the shoe for me... Size 11 at the max.. i can get away with some size 10's and even size 9 in my football boots (umbro).. But usually 11. I got some runners the other day, size 10.. they fit but are a little tight.. fine for runners since i dont want movement when in the gym. For casual wear though size 11 for me!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,234 ✭✭✭ayatollah

Searrard has to have the most ridiculously oversized feet for someone his size their as big as mine if not bigger!!!!

    They're not feet, they're stumps.

My friend took a size 13 when he was 13, was quite funny at the time. Now he's grown into them and just looks normal. Bah.

I'm size 15 in a shoe. I normally don't have too much trouble getting shoe's, boots etc to fit me. Just have to look around different places for a few hours.

Now getting condoms that big that's another thread altogether. :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,524 ✭✭✭✭Gordon

How many times do I have to tell you FanJ? Use SOCKS not CONDOMS!! Don't you find that you slip about inside your shoes if you use condoms? Yes? Well there you go then, socks it is.

I am size 13. I had awful hassle getting runners and shoe's for school. But for the last 3 years i have been lucky. Got a pair of safety shoe's from work a while back and when i was in America over the summer i managed to find a nice pair of runners and shoes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,802 ✭✭✭thegills

I've only got size 8 feet, but they're as wide as hell.

    Regards Maradona.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 534 ✭✭✭bozzie

    ive got a size 15 (16 runners)
but i suppose thats only normal for my size(6'7) still its v hard to get shoes/runners

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,156 ✭✭✭oneweb

And here's me thinkin I was bad with size 13's! :D Obviously there's more demand for larger size shoes/runners than shops care about, especially given that the population of boards is a fraction of the whole country's population.

Is it easier to get footwear in big sizes down the country?

    It is what it's.

mee 11 wow its like the majourity on this post, ol internet users feet have been proven to be bigger than non internet users. well on boards.ie anyhew :)

So 11 big then for guys or average???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,156 ✭✭✭oneweb

I guess I should've named the thread "What size feet" to get a better idea of the average size. oh well
And what age you are - 'cos some repliers might still be growing.
And do your parents have big feet.
And what part of the country you're in - to see if there's any link to being from the city or the country and the size of feet.

Anyways, I reckon 11 is larger than average. I think 9 or 10 is pretty much the norm for guys.

    It is what it's.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 148 ✭✭walt

I heard somewhere before that your feet stop growing at about 13, well before the rest of your body reaches final growth. I'm size 11 shoe and 12 runner, which ain't too big for my height, but still got a big langh0r

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,815 ✭✭✭✭po0k

    I've been a size 12 (shoes) since I was about 12/13.
13 in runners is nice, but once the padding starts to get crushed I have just a fraction too much space to move about in.

What ever about shoes, getting decent comfortable hard-wearing socks in my size is a royal pain in the right testicle.

No place stocks size 12/13 socks.
No where, except mountaineering shops, and they're normally gore-text lines space pressurised things taht cost as much as a new pair of shoes themselves.
    IT'S NOT RIGHT!

Yeah, and regards the big feet thing.....
    /me checks
    yeah... :)

You'll find them in Debenhams Dublin CC ;)
You might need to look around carefully. They're the Wilson brand, and they're black, multipack. None of those poxy itchy ankles with them, either! :D

12 but sometimes 13 - depends on the fit

with all us ppl with big feet, you think it would be easier getting trainers and shoes,

i normally have to go to so many diff. shops only to be told they only do up to size 11
