    And it rocks !!!

Integrated digital camera , full colour screen , polyphonic ringtones ..and loads more.

On first impressions it seems kinda big but once you start using it , it isnt much bigger than say a 3210 or 3310. And its very light.

Took a awhile to get use to all the menus but the joystick makes it much easier to navigate.

Im very impressed with it , only thing against it would be quality if photos in low light , you can boost this but i havnt figured out how yet !

And i was told MMS should be ready from O2 in about 3 weeks or so.

How much did you pay for it? I was in Liverpool last weekend and phones4u were giving them away for free if you subscribe to Vodafone...

You can get it from www.expansys.com for €560 sim free or in the telephone shop on dawson street for €850

Im guessing you bought it sim free?
I say that as it is very unliky that it will be released on vodafone or O2 this year, the carphone warehouse in (galway) shopping center has 2 in stock and has done for the last 2 weeks(sim free)
    (829yoyos)

They are having major problems with the the compatibility on vodafone using mms and email so at the moment its only sim free!
They had the same problem with the 9210 and thatwas only released on the networks 7 months after it was available simfree!!

It is a savage phone, took me a while to find out where the hell you put the sim card! its so so so simple to use, the quality of the screen is amazing compared to the t68i screen but the actual picture quality (printed or on a pc) is nearly identical!

any more questions about it? ask away!!

I'll join that club, got mine from expansys aswell, lovely fone, camera doesn't use the battery much really. Battery life is excellent when you consider what you are using in comparason to a normal fone, with automatic email checking and such and full colour screen and such other features. Games that come pre installed are very good also, well recommended fone, hours of fun with tripex and bounce.Bounce which i have cleared, still looking for the new levels on nokia site to extend it past level 11.

Gprs is good, what software version you got darth (*#0000#) mine's a bit buggy in relation to constant connection with gprs and other such things.

Dubwireless any news on places to upgrade software? and with the fones OS and system so adv any hope of having a pc version that i can update via cable/infrared/bluetooth

MMS ain't going to be much good for over a year or so imo, as no one else has MMS capable fones but being able to email pictures straight off the fone is very useful and is the main way i transfer them atm.

Joystick is a lovely idea, don't have to be as protective with the screen as one would have if one had a touch screen, i've still my plastic cover on that came with the fone so no scratches(cept a few ones on the side of the metal to the left of the screen(metalic paint bar thing...its black underneeth) )

Well firstly i'd recommend ringing o2, ph. 1740, they will send you out the wap details as a configuration message, after that go into settings and copy the settings to a new one and name the second one open net access, then change the APN to internet in the second one(you will need this one to do anything other than view wap sites.....i.e email or anything else)

3.12, same as me, you will get probs

i'd hoped for that also when it was first announced, but Nokia want it to go back to the service point for updates

there are specialist cable you can buy on the web to flash / update other nokias, but as yet i haven't seen any for the 7650

just about setting up the internet access for O2 bill pay GPRS service

if copying the WAP settings you need to change a couple of entries (Access Point, remove gateway, add DNS), or might be easier to start from fresh

i put this together, it get's me online with the 7650

once you set up the main settings, press options and choose Advanced Setings to input the DNS entries

pressing Back, then Back again saves the configuration

Panasonic and Nokia are pointing the finger at eachother with regards to a minor incompatibility & the new (2 days old) N7650 s/w is *supposed* to resolve many other issues, what "major problems" are you referring to?

whenit does arrive I wonder how the new owners who use it for data will find the GPRS charges between operators

i ended up using the 7650 with O2 only as the Vodafone GPRS consumer charges ended up (Eur 50) more expensive, over the month using around 10Mb for email, web viewing, and chat / IM.

10MB GPRS Data on O2 costs me EUR 24.20 per month.
I can carry any unused data over and there is no miminum data use per connection

The only GPRS data I can subscribe to on Voda is 1MB GPRS Data that costs me EUR 11.99 per month.
To bring that up to 10Mb each additional 1 MB is EUR 6.99 coming to a grand total of EUR 74.90 per month (ouch). Voda don't allow carry over (not that you would have much out of 1Mb you could carry over). And they have a minimum 10Kb charge per connection.

Granted Voda have HSCSD, but the dial-up charges added up during peak time, and outside of any inclusive minutes with the e-merge Mobile ISP.

Will be interesting to see how each of them pitch the MMS charges.

email, web viewing, and chat / IM.
What webviewing and chat/IM software you using?...that webviewer link you gave before seems to crash once i try use it every time on my 7650, tho that could just be me :)

as for IM's i can't get a decent program to actually work fully without crashing when it tries to connect(generic J2ME or symbian software)

    WebViewer by ReqWireless

    Wireless IRC by MobileWays

IM+ for Instant Messaging by Shape Services

All working grand on handset software V3.12, I'm using the above O2 Internet GPRS connection settings.

Not sure why your WebViewer isn't working if you are on the same handset version and using the same O2 GPRS configs. I'm using WebViewer version 1.6 (1.7 is the latest but haven't had a chance to update it yet).

How much free handset memory do you have left (I'm usually at 1MB+ free) and are the GPRS connection settings identical to those above?

BTW, I had a chance to get as far as the Quays today. The shop with the "free nokia software upgrades" in the window is: phonepak 11-12 Bachelors Walk, ph (01) 8746267 - I went in and asked about a 7650 upgrade and they said it should be in some time next week... Haven't heard anything back from Teknofone about the 7650 upgrades yet either, their details are 38-40 Sth. Great Geotges St, ph (01) 671 1401. I'm away next week so you can give them a try if you want to see if it's in yet - do post back if you get the latest 7650 software on yours

Well, I decided to get one too! :) Bought one for £299 brand new on ebay. Should have it by next weekend hopefully! Will be keeping my T39 though just in case I dont like the new one, though I dont think I'll be going back to the T39. :D
Any idea when will Vodafone support MMS, and would it be hard to switch to O2 (even though they have bad coverage at my house, I've been considering it for a long time due to GPRS prices)?

    Brendan.

2mb's free, GPRS settings are for O2 bill, and are perfect for full net access for other software....
running same version of sofware on the fone, using version 1.7 of webviewer.....

Error after it wonders what connection profile to use is :

    App. closed
    jes- 11e-ConnectionsEventServer@1KERN-EXEC 3
incase that means anything to anyone

will probally buy that IM client also, pity don't support MSN aswell....use all 3 alot....

Well I got mine today. :) Ebay deal fell through, so I got it off expansys. Nice next day delivery; came just after 10AM, and I'm well out the country! :)

Everything seems to be working fine, and I've set up GPRS, HSCSD, etc with no problems. I've got ver 3.16 btw.

1 question; how do you delete sms message reports; there doesnt seem to be an option in the Reports section, though I guess I'm just missing something, and should read the book! :D

well you can't directly delete reports afaik, you can erase all your logs(which they are considered part of) or set a 1/10/30 day time to keep logs.i really haven't had a problem with having well loads n loads of reports, doesn't take up too much space and the load time to look at them doesn't take too long, one thing that annoys me is the load time to look at the recent call register, i.e. i hit the green phone symbol on the fone to see recently dialed numbers and it takes a fair few seconds to load the list, quite annoying.....i just go find people in the fone book again or use the fact that if you push in the joystick it will be on the last person you selected in the fone book, thats my best solution for redial :)
