i spent the past week in delphi adventure centre in galway and i had the MOST FUN I'VE EVER HAD EVER!!!! it was f*cking amazing! now, most of you know me, so you'll know i'm not sporty in the slightest so this was an incredibly new experience for me.
i jumped off a pier on monday, abseiled down a 45ft tower on tuesday and flew down a hill on a zipwire today. we went bogwalking in the rain on wednesday, kayaking on tuesday afternoon, canoeing on monday, rock climbing on thursday and loads of other stuff. I HAVE MUSCLES IN MY ARMS!!
i missed surfing because i couldn't face getting into a wet suit again. :p it was an amazing experience. anyone else ever done stuff like this?
    sHep

and some of the instructors were *really* hot. :D

How much did it cost? Sounds great! :)

    It is what it's.

I went to Delphi last year. It was the most fun ever (except for the night when some girls started seeing ghosts and of course *my* room got accused of being witches and conjuring dark spirits to haunt our enemies  )
But i made some of the best friends ever. And i really don't think there's anything more fun than standing on a wire about 50ft off the ground screaming abuse at an instructor because you can't figure out where to put your foot. :D

i feel a tad bitter, cos i hated delphi. the only thing i wanted to do there was surfing, cos i'd done the rest many times, and i couldn't because there were too many waves. and the guys in my school are mostly assholes, and they tried to make me socialise with them.

on the plus side, i shared a room with a load of my friends, which was great. we listened to music til 4 am, had air guitar competitions, and a guy made a fort. sounds sad, but was funny at the time. and a single-handedly built a raft that won a competition.

my sister went last week. apparently, there were 50 hair straighteners brought. bit sad really.

    anyway, that's my rant done.

Yeah, when I went last year half of the girls spent most of their time doing their make-up and hair. I ask you, what is the point of piling on foundation when you're going to be surfing?!

But Delphi rocks... watersports are strangely fun.

Hmmm....I know its CLASSED as a wintersport, but theoretically. could you call snowboarding a watersport?Cause like, snow is water.........

Anyway, snowboarding is the best sport in the world. I think.

it cost us about €210 but i think the school paid for some of it too. everyone should do it though, the zipwire was my favourite bit. it just felt so much like you were flying! god, i'd love to do it all again...

Haven't been to delphi, but I've been to Ballyloughran house in Kerry a good few times. Also been out around the activity centre in Killaloe a few times.

I find mountain biking far more fun than watersports or high ropes stuff though. Nothing like doing 35mph down a gravel track when it's p***ing rain :D though the more technical stuff is better imho - I like picking my way down through a rock garden, or going well and truly sideways through a muddy bend!

I went to petersburg in galway on friday and I got back on monday. it kicked ass......but we weren't allowed mobiles, music players, books, drink or drugs...........but we were allowed smoke - how fu<ked up is that! oh and I absailed down a 65 foot cliff so HA
I did kayaking, absailing, rockclimbing, obstacle course, gorge walking and caving................it was really really cool :) I wanted to stay longer

No books? "Okay, kids, we don't want you broadening your minds on this trip. Hey, you! Yes, you. You with the Tolstoy. Throw that out the window. No trashy reading for you, no how, no way! Here, have a cigarette."

  • Registered Users Posts: 588 ✭✭✭littlehedgehog

books stop communication.............we were supposed to "bond" on this trip. I did miss books but I missed music a hell of alot more :( Now I'm back and I have had music pumping pretty much all day!

In CTYI we speciffically weren't allowed role playing game books :P little did you know what was the story there?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 406 ✭✭shep the malevolent pixie

yeah, what *was* the deal with not being allowed have role playing books? f*ck you jean! had there been a 65ft cliff there i would've abseiled down it. :p oooh muppets in english! yaay!
i wanna go kayaking again, it does absolute wonders for your upper arms. ahh, i miss delphi. :( speaking of miss delphi, the guys in our class got to dress up as girls and compete against each other to win the title of "miss delphi". it was pretty funny. but they had to compete against the guys from another school as well and we only managed to get someone in second place. he deserved first damnit...anyway, it was funny. i have photos.....:D

I haven't been to Delphi, I'm Sorry! Don't hurt me! But I have been to places like it. Most of them are pretty good as regards sports and the like, but what we really go for is the night-life.

Seriously, you wouldn't believe how naiive some 14-year-old northern girls are. No offence to any of that group reading this but for God's sake! Half the time you didn't know we were coming on to you, or who was coming on to you!

It's always alot of fun. Next year is our last year in the junior age-group courses so we're going to bring lots of drink, smokes, hash(If we can get it), numchucks etc... It doesn't matter if we get kicked out coz we'll just be back next year anyway!

Big mega fun happy party thing!!! Yay, everyone's invited! Stop by if you're in the area. Bring your significant other! Hell, bring your family if you want!! Fun for ALL!!!:D :D

    We go for the nightlife

One question: how old are you?

If you are over 14, please, stop talking now.

    :)

never been to Delphi. our school screwed us over and brought us to Carlingford adventure centre, where i think our school is now banned from :)

Orienteering sucks ass! It's the only thing I try and bum out of on those camps!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 458 ✭✭ll=llannah

orienteering is good fun and all until you are lost in the woods with someone you hate, yelling for an hour until someone finds you and laughs at the fact that you got lost and that the compass broke. *cough* not that it happened to me or anything . . .

I'm looking forward to your rebuttal to both of my "insults", when, as you said, you figure them out.
