    just finished testing my pc using 3dmark 2001se and got a disapointing 8231 3D marks

    i was expecting between 10 and 11 thousand marks

    my system is:
    athlon 1900xp
    abit kt7a
    1gig of ram
    NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600

    running on windows 2k. I have the latest display drivers and i had to downgrade on the 4in1 drivers as it was crashing my system

    would the sdram be killing my score or is something else horribly wrong?

    suggestions appreciated

    What version of the graphics drivers do you have?
    try www.guru3d.com for the latest drivers.

    your getting about level of a GF4 ti4200 so maybe its the drivers:

    heres a good benchmark for:

    AMD AthlonXP 2000+
    ASUS A7V266-E
    VIA KT266A
    133 MHz FSB
    256MB PC-266 MHz RAM CL2 (2x128MB)
    Drivers & Software
    DirectX Version 8.1
    OS Windows XP Professional

    i have the fsb running at 133Mhz

    i have the latest NVIDIA display drivers

    i have the latest direct x installed

    would sd ram affect the score by so much. Any benchmark that i have seen has been done on ddr ram. I am going to update to that but the funds are low at the moment.

    I had a look at the other thread that kali mentioned but again it was ddr that was used there.

    Mordeth seemed to be having a similar problem does anyone know if he got it sorted? or did he use sdram

    well seen as your not scoring TOO low, its still a really good score.

    I'd put it down to the sd-ram. 256 ddr is about 90eur at the moment. Make sure you get the correct type for your mother board.

    That motherboard (KT7A) will only take SDRAM afaik...

    Crikey. I have a GF2 Pro on an XP2000+/MSI KT3 Ultra with 256MB of PC2700 (CL2.5) and I'm getting 6103 in 3DMark2001. That's a lot better than the 4743 from the Tom's benchmark.

    Is the faster mobo and RAM making that much of a difference?

    you might like to look at some of the scores I was getting...

    3D Mark 2001(SE I think) (1024x768 32bit colour)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Axia 1ghz (133/100fsb) + GF2Ti450 (451/250) = 3768
    Axia 1ghz at 1.4ghz (140x10) + GF2Ti450 (451/250) = 4432
    Axia 1ghz at 1.4ghz (140x10) + GF2Ti450 (481/275) = 4577
    Axia 1ghz (133/100fsb) + GF4Ti4200 (default) = 6578
    Axia 1ghz at 1.33ghz (133x10) + GF4Ti4200 (default) = 7452
    Axia 1ghz at 1.4ghz (140x10) + GF4Ti4200 (default) = 7696
    P4 1.6a at 1.6ghz (100fsb) + GF4Ti4200 (default) = 8241
    P4 1.6a at 2.0ghz (125fsb) + GF4Ti4200 (default) = 9312
    P4 1.8a at 2.4ghz (133fsb) + GF4Ti4200 (default) = 9699
    DDR P4 16a@2.1 + GF4Ti4200 (300/550) = 10297
