Recording a single channel of a DVD?

I'm trying to record dialogue from a DVD into a wav file. Problem is that there is background music in the segment that I'm trying to record I don't want it to be included. As the DVD is presented in 5.1 surround I thought there might be a way to record only the channel that the dialogue comes on and ignore the rest. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so what program is there on the web that can do it?

    Thanks!

Is the cable to the speaker carrying the channel you want to record fixed into the speaker? If it has a jack, perhaps you can plug it into the line-in (or mic as a last resort) socket..

    But I'm no expert :D
