BCI decisions

Any thoughts on the BCI's latest fantabulous licensing decisions?

As if repeatedly refusing Phantom a licence wasn't enough, they've now decided to take the licence off Radio Kilkenny.

While Radio Kilkenny's programmes mightn't be everyone's cup of tea, it is a hard-working, community-based, extremely successful station which (unlike some we could name) has observed the terms of its licence.

Does this kind of decision-making bode well for Phantom's future chances of going legit?

Of course it bodes badly for future decisions, but it's no surprise.

The BCI, like other public bodies, does not make decisions based on what is in the public interest. The decisions are made to benefit those in the "club".

Phantom is lucky that the enforcment division of the radio regulatory bodies are equally inept and only stir themselves when poked by the people in Power to get rid of particular stations which are threatening the cash-cows . . .

    Cynical - but realistic!
