shud it not work by replacing Io.sys and also logos.sys and logow.sys ???

change them to ur own splashes with the correct settings of 320 x 400 pixels 256 colour bmp.

    is the desktop wallpaper

right clik on natty graphic in IE4 - IE6 or Netscape

    Set Desktop Wallpaper Option.

(in the display control panel you may stretch center or tile it)

in 2k and XP this natty graphic also becomes a startup and shutdown graphic saves as a file named IEWallpaper.BMP

    in the

    \winnt

    root OS directory

    M

    {edit} Just saw tman's post - he clinched it allready - enjoy {/edit}
I posted up a thread before about win2k Boot logos
In it was a link to an app called exe hacker or something
You can open up Win32 exe files and look at the stuff contained in them (ie bmp files)
Editing ntos.exe or soemthing you can see all the boot logos and logon-splashes etc. and can modifiy them to your hearts content.

The littlewhitedog.com link is the way to go ... I did it on my PC at work first (just to make sure I wouldnt fry my PC at home, who gives a damn about a work pc????:D) ... so now my pc boots with a random boot screen (mostly simpsons types) ...

if you make your own screen for the bootup, ive found PaintShopPro is sweet. Its got this progressive encoding option, so you dont loose many colors when you convert it to BMP and stuff. I have two starwasr screens, give us a mail address if anyone wants them.

Littlewhite dog is the way to go. banbutcher, littlewhi... have a program or something, cant remember fully, but it changes the screen everytime you boot up.

Hmm, just got an idea for a boot up:

"Im booting up now, so everyone get ready for some Chaos, Panic and Disorder!!"
