    Rushmore
Gladiator (if only for the soundtrack)
    Citizen Kane
The ORIGINAL spiderman movie (Oh, the hideously dated cheeziness)
    Truman Show
    EdTV
I have to say The Matrix
    Predator
    The Omen
    Panic Room
    The Others
Pokémon: The Movie( I'm not kidding)
Most thrillers that keep you guessing

    WAYNES WORLD!!!

dear lord how could i forget gladiator, and the indiana joneses, except the second one isn't as good as the other two, a bit dark for a swashbuckling adventure thing.
i like pushing tin, thought it was clever and it has four of my favourite actors in it; thornton, cusack, blanchette and jolie. although yeah there was a couple of plotholes yeah.
the donkey in shrek was brilliant. and i thought dogma was brilliant as a comedy, which is what kevin smith is best at, not opening people's minds and **** like that. you have to admit the "i'll cry rape" and the gay-couple-like relationship between bartleby an loki and the bit where jay gets up and says "what the **** is this? what the **** happened here? who the **** are you? what the **** are you doing? and what the **** happened to that guy's head?" bits are stupidly funny. go on.
and i'm sorry bob but neither interesting nor entertaining were Loser! (talk about blowing monkey), Bad Company (can't even remember that, it was so bland, and that was what two monthes ago?) Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone (more predictable than time, with uber-**** acting) Say It Ain't So (one word- ****).

    hmmm,
some like it hot is a good ol'film.

the virgin suicides.....found it a bit pointless myself.liked the way it was shot and put together and so on,though.

orangerhino(bob, yes?),i would be absolutely horrified at your list of good films,(i mean, all those adam sandler ones??and MEET THE PARENTS??dear god!)but you put clueless in there, and i really really really really really really love that film.*sighs*must watch it again...

monty python and the holy grail is fabfabfab.i eman, there's a charcater called patsy in it!i love people called patsy!life of brian is also quite fabtastic.and wonderful.and soooooo gas.

    i don't like thrillers.very annoying.

edtv and the truman show were a bit shhhhhhhhite,i mo thuairim féin.

and harry potter??the only good parts about that film are the bits the attractive scottish quiddich player are in.

that's all i have to say for now...

Can we stop with the really stupid "Hey, i'm gonna waste peoples time by posting up my favourite movies and getting people to discuss how irritating i am" polls. they've been done to ****ing death.

On the other hand, a topic concerning something along the lines of cinematography in various movies, how well they were shot etc. could actually be mildly interesting opposed to this ****e. so, how bout i change the subject.

    Great use of cinematography:

    Three Kings

Behind Enemy Lines (crap storyline and went a teensy bit overboard on the effects, but damn purdy film)

anyone else have views on this?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,028 ✭✭✭oq4v3ht0u76kf2

Neil; calm down... I merely posted that list as a list of films I enjoyed seens as it provided more discussion than "No yuo111! Your list is teh ****emonkey!11"

And I don't care how purdy Behind Enemy Lines was... that as a shocking outrage to storytellers everywhere. Ya gotta wonder about the script writing meeting for that film... we have two stoners, let's call them Bob and Sven...

Bob: I know, let's have an indestructible man...
    Sven: With armour and stuff?
B: Not at all, just pure indestructible...
S: Yeah, able to run as fast as a jeep with 200lb sack on his back...
B: Yeah dude! And let's have him fighting the commies...
S: Yeah, that'll show 'em!! It's real patriotic like...
    B: Yeah...
    S: Yeah...

Then they told the team of monkeys at typewriters to write the script...

    Black Hawk Down.

What in poo was that all about? It didn't seem to have a plot in the traditional sense, more a few just about coherent sketches interspersed with explosions, big noisey helcopters and blokes going "rar!"

I got the impression, really I did, that the script wasn't so much written as it was sneezed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 337 ✭✭Green Hand Guy

Lord of the Rings? I loved the books but the movie? It was good but not one of the best ever. They cut out too much important stuff for it to be brilliant.

My favourite movie ever has to be The Empire Strikes Back. Who wouldn't like seeing that asshole Mark Hammil getting his hand cut off? Also Darth Vader kicks ass. They ruined him in Return of the Jedi by turning him good in the end. It would have been better if he'd let the Emperor kill Luke and THEN killed the Emperor.

Attack of the Clones was good too for two reasons, Natalie Portman and lightsabres. Wouldn't it be cool if they somehow combined the two? It would make some kind of super lightsabre woman. Oh, and they should have had more scenes with Yoda using his lightsabre.

what important stuff did they cut? mostly all they got rid of was the tom bombadill sh*te and he was just annoying anyway.
ooh oliver wood......*drools slightly* the actor's name is....wait for it.....sean biggerstaff!!!! *falls into fits of maniacal laughter* :D

    Yeah. that was
    1) historically oh-so-inaccurate
    2) only seen for girls without brains to watch Josh Hartnett prance about the screen with dirt on him and a machine gun slung around him
    3) just ****e in general
    4) i agree with your comment on the script being sneezed. a very accurate and appropriate analogy.

Taxi driver kicks some serious ass. he was so f*cking brilliant.

    Hitchcock was a genious.
just thought i'd throw that out there.
i love the way he is an extra in each of his movies. its like where's waldo....only....not.

  • Registered Users Posts: 337 ✭✭Green Hand Guy

That gives me quite an interesting idea. A lightsabre porn movie set on a helicopter and starring Alfred Hitchcock and Natalie Portman. How's that for using my resources?
