I bought a 2nd hand lappo and I cant get the onboard lan working.. I have it enabled in the bios and XP says it exists and is working. But when I plug in the cable I get nothing, no lil light :(

Well I was just wondering if theres something I should know bout lappos.. Any suggestions would be most welcome !

Go into device manager and check if the nic is enabled..
i know this is obvious but double-check because
    when win2k/xp disables nics..
it disables the led on them too

also is the led on the switch port flashing?

I had checked that, xp reports it enabled and working. The lights on the switch dont flash either now. I think ive tried everything at this stage so id reckon its a hardware failure.. :(
