    Hi all,

I have a Cisco 1603 that I have been using without any problems with Eircom free net connection.

I signed up for EsatBT Netsmart and having reporgrammed the router with the new dial up number and DNS servers I have the following problem.

If I use CHAP then the line just toggles on demand, no connection gets established.

If I use PAP then the line will establish but the server does not assign a IP address or gateway.

Anyone got any ideas / tips?

    Thanks,

    Grayarea.

you'd need to use chap for esat - give their support line a call on 1800 924 924 or send an email to support@esat.net and ask them for a sample router config in case you're missing something

and yes they do reply to mail :)

    Use Chap.

debug isdn events and then try and make a connection
then do a show isdn status and paste the results.

I am not familiar with all of the cisco commands, so whould I be right in doing the following?

    router>ena
    router>#debug isdn events
    router>#

    then try using web then

    router># show isdn stats

    Does that look right?

I will try it when I get home.

    Thanks,

    router>#show int bri0
    router>#show int bri1

It goes up and down very quickly. I see its state change if I have the console attached.

bri0 is up (spoofing) when interogated.

    Later,

Esat support have come back to tell me that I need to upgrade to IOS 12.1

I will update when I have done this.

I have attached a copy of the working config for Netmart below.

There was no need to update IOS on the router, it is now working with 11.3.

I used Cisco configmaker to rebuild a config from scratch for Netsmart and it worked with no problems.

There does not seem to be much differance between this working and the non working config besides configuring CHAp and PAP.

Thanks for all the suggestions and comments. :)
