Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Well they managed to hang on by the skin of their teeth...but they deserve it really, played well in the second half. Shearer's penalty...well what can I say, for some reason I thought he was gonna miss it, but in the end you can't hit them much better than that.

Harper doesn't inspire me with confidence but because of the win he'll no doubt retain his place...

Newcastle were very lucky last night...first half was dreadful, but there was a big improvement in the second half! I thought kiev were unlucky not to get a draw on the night(rincon really should have hit the target with his header in injury time) but newcastle have been extremely unlucky in the early games(how they didnt beat feyenoord i do not know) so i suppose they deserve some luck. Great penalty from shearer...as for harper,i'm not sure either.

He is a dodgy as ****, then again some of the passes he was given were very heavy. Given has nothing to worry about.

Fair fucs to Maccaibi , we had a good team out but they got 2 class goals.

Well done Newcastle. Once they got going they deserved the win. However that Robert guy wastes a awful lot of pocession with dodgy passes etc.

Fair play to the Isreali team as well no-one including me gave them a chance.

Now come on you Gunners tonight !!!

    Gandalf.

Would be good to see four English teams in the next round, unfortunately for Nwcastle it is not all in their own hands, if they win in a fortnight, they could still go out.

Maccabi Haifa scored two cracking goals which I doubt Barthez would have saved had he have been in nets and were well deserving of their win.

Is Newcastles final game home or away ? I would like to see them get through, I have always had alot of time for Bobby Robson as a manager.

Same here, it would be good to see them through alright. Robert is a lazy ****e though, very hot and cold. It is away as far as I know, should be a good match though, Juve have to travel to Kiev

Yeah, would be nice to see Newcastle get through but they really have an uphill task. Still, who would have thought they'd beat Juve and Kiev a couple of weeks ago :)

Cant see Newcastle going thru they left it too late as i cant see them getting a result away to the reigning Uefa cup Champions.

I bet newcastle will win...but i think kiev will beat Juve.

They deserved a win and fair play they got it, they were very unlucky in previous games, nice to see them get a result.

    Speeds diving header was nice.

Ah yes! Once AGAIN Newcastle manage to hang in by the skin of their teeth...

Very cool match though. Good to see Shea back, we won't mention those two goals...which to be fair were mostly unsavable

Even though there was 6 goals in yer match the entertainment level was much higher. Newcastle were a continous threat.

Why do they show the whole of the other matches, showed us last nite, was a crap match. Veron got a nice goal but it was a ****e match.

Well done Newcastle, thought the ref was rubbish, totally biased towards Feyn.

Thought Andy O'B was very good, watched O'Shea playing on the right last nite, was outstanding, when this lad goes into a tackle he wants the ball, no prisoners

well done the lads cracking game but i have to admit i thought feyenoord were gonna trounce them once they brought it back to 2 all and CRAIG BELLAMY!!!!! granted he scored 2 goals but how many touches did he need when he was put through one on one with the keeper FFS................

well done to the keeper in the last minute for putting the ball in with his knackers!!!!

Jaysus Johnny you are not easily pleased. The man is short on match practice but still scores two goals and you are not happy. Most forwards would not even have chased the last one he knocked in off the keeper.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,508 ✭✭✭johnnynolegs

ah no im not critisizing too much just saying that is - i mean what if the keeper hadn't put it in with his knackers then they would be rueing the missed opportunity

anyway as far as i am concerned bellamy is a class player

It looked deliberate, tbh - the ultimate coup de grace. From three matches lost and dead and buried, to three fine wins and an injury time winner to put them through. Cannoning it in off the goalie's goolies, well played that man!
