US midterms

    what does every body think of the outcome of the US midterms? Isnt it amazing that while the majority of the Western world live in fear of what Bush might do next, the American people give him resounding support....he is the first American president to ever gain seats in the senate midterms and more importantly to gain a majority in the senate!

    Maybe some American people like him because the majority of the world lives in fear of what he might do next? You're not going to lose much popularity if you just keep banging on about how America must be 'strong' and 'free', etc. Trying to counter this kind of thing with actual policy arguments is fairly futile, as the hapless Democrats have found.

    Disappointing,but the Democrats got no less than they deserved.They have been falling over each other to show their loyalty to Bush,with a few notable exceptions such as the late Paul Wellstone.Not just on Iraq,but on economic issues such as the tax cut and rising unemployment they could have made some serious ground had they stood up for what they believed in.As it is,they never even raised many of these issues,and Democratic voters just didn't bother going out to vote.

    Hopefully this'll teach them a lesson for 2004.

    Not really, they're just rewarding him for protecting their country from mass murdering Islamofascists who the Democrats want to appease.
