windows wont shut down

Just wondering if any one can help me but Im running windows 98 and I try to shut my PC down and it wont shut down past the windows 98 splash screen ........... has any one else experienced this or how can i fix it

Have you disabled ACPI (or whatever Win98 calls the fancy power management feature) in your BIOS?

Thanks Sceptre for your help but I have tried all from that link and it is still not shutting down Properly Does has anyone else seen this as its wrecking my head tring to fix the bloody thing and Gateway are not around anymore

Are you running 98 or 98SE? There's a service pack for 98 available now. Might be worth a try.
