110mph+ Fiat Seicento 1.1(M1 up North :D 90mph min all the way into Belfast , felt like the thing was gonna barrel roll @ any sec,not a pleasant experience)

    Fastest speed as a passenger
139mph in Ford Sierra 2.0i (quick car) - can't remember where exactly but on the N4 somewhere, Dad drivin, Mam screamin to slow down

I've gone faster but defo the scariest was hitting 85mph in a 1973 bog standard mark 1 escort 1.1L with 5 passengers and 3 surfboards on the roof. The majority of that speed was produced by a hefty tailwind normally the car would struggle to hit 60mph.
I've been a passenger in some modern top repmobile (can't remember TT or BMW or some yoke) cars doing over 100 but it's like sitting on a couch waching the landscape channel.
If you don't feel like you may die at any minute whats the point of putting yourself in the situation where you could. :D
Yeh drove a BMW 323Ci a few times, you do not realise the speed you are travellin at....was in a 30mph zone, looked down at the clock...felt like i was doin about 30mph(me being used to a seicento)....actually touchin 90mph...scary

What company has an XR3i in their fleet? :) Just curious...

A company with no taste. One ugly car.

apparantly many people travel at 140mph on traffic free strectches in the fast lane.

There is no fast lane, but otherwise you're correct. There's nothing special about doing 160km/h if your car will do it comfortably, and I would routinely have cruised between 180 and 240km/h as long as traffic and road quality allowed.

The amusing thing is, I feel a lot safer on the Autobahn than on any Irish Motorway.

Never really in any "fast" cars that were booting it. Did do:

118mph in my old 1.4 Renault 19 a few years back on the road from Galway to Ballina — I genuinely think it was lifting off the road at one stage.

Also managed to do Eyre Square (Galway) at 3am to long term carpark in Dublin Airport 5.10am in the R19.

115/6mph a few times in an Astra 1.4 (hard to tell what the exact speed was it was vibrating so much)

Haven't gone over about 80mph since penalty point came in. Just not worth it.

About 120mph in my dad's 3L Granada down thru Glen of the Downs on N11, must have been sometime in 1986. Still accelerating when I had to slow.

111mph in Peugeot 205 xrad van, couple times on route from Wicklow to just east of Cork. About 156 miles in 2 hours exactly. This was in 1990

Did plenty more stupid speeds in inappropiate places in that xrad, can't bear to mention them.

    Have grown up now.... :D

Congratulations to all those who guessed Dublin airport was in Swords. Yes the aforementioned speed was done in a ,"it's not going unless it's Boeing" 737. Yes planes can do in excess of 400 mph but under 10,000 feet there is a speed limit of 250 knots or about 280 mph (maybe more). Well done those of you that spotted it. :)

    155 MPH, kawasaki ZX10
    145 MPH. Kawasaki ZX6R
    125 MPH, Honda Civic VTI
    130 MPH, Mitusbishi FTO
    200 MPH, Assasin Coupe (Burnout 3) :D

About 130 KM/Hr on the nice stretch of new M1 just north of the airport one bright, dry quiet Sunday morning with no other cars around. No need for me to test the top speed as it's written in the manual so potentially 203 Km/hr.

The VTi must have been the 1.5 jap import.
The real VTi/Si can easily do 145mph

It was the european 1.6 VTEC, I never said I was flat out!!
The FTO was barley breaking a sweat.

153mph in the dead of night on an empty French autoroute
    1998 Honda CBR600F

Wasn't big or clever but it had to be done sometime.

The Dublin Airport cap is damaging the economy of Ireland as a whole, and must be scrapped forthwith.

The VTi wasn't breaking a sweat either!!! :)

Was it your own VTi? what did you think of the car? harsh?

I got the Daihatsu Domino just over 100 on the downhill section of the M1 into Belfast from the northeast.

I've driven the Hyundai Accent and Mazda Protege at about 100mph (they'll go a bit faster, but i haven't yet had the nerve. the police enforcement is much greater here than in Ireland) at 1am on President George Bush Turnpike. As my sister puts it, it's great to be able to drive over George Bush :)

The only way that is possible is if you drove it off a cliff ;)

The fastest 1.4 golf evah could do 170 km/h. It would take about 3 weeks to reach that speed though...
