Get him a PS2 with gran theft auto vice city. he will be unbelivably happy, is he your boyfriend? if so your going to loose him to it!!!!
only messin' but possibly the best game ever.
Xbox is an amazing machine but the games seem a little hollow after a while(apart from a few exception), and the controllers are wrist breakers.
    Hope this helps!!

PS2 is definitely the best option - it's got loads of games (and is the only console with the Grand Theft Auto games or The Getaway) and it also has a Platinum budget range with some crackers like Gran Turismo 3 on it, which is actually a big consideration - when it gets to mid-January and money is tight, being able to pick up a good game for £20 rather than £45 makes all the difference :)

For a start - forget the GameCube.

That leaves you with a choice between the PS2 and the XBox... and based on the description you've given us - it seems as though the PS2 would suit him best.

Like Shinji said, the Platinum range will work in your favour come January.

Thanks for the replys guys! :D

I'll probably go for the PS2 then...

Anyone know of the cheapest spot highstreet or online to pick it up?

If you're going to buy it new, pick it up in one of the Smiths Toystores..

They sell these in bundles, which include games.. Probably the way to go, if you're buying this as a present for someone else..

But (the clincher) they also give you a number of vouchers to redeem in the store.. I think it's something like 2 x €10 and 4 x €5.

You can use these immediately, to redeem against a second controller, memory card or game...

At €40 a memory card it's a bit expensive though.
