Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,
Well sky active is finally here (actually for a month now) after about november 12 months when the "sky active to be launched in ireland shortly" rumour first started appearing. Anyway what is is the verdict of the service: i put this question to you the judge and the jury, (the judge being Dmc, and the jury being us, all the regular posters) . I myself have not accessed the service and don't intend to do so until after the new sky viewing cards are issued, (they never billed me for a few box office films last spring and i don't intend to pay them now) so my phone line in permantley disconnected, i went as far as i could offline the service looks fairly crap, but it's better than nothing, improvement that could be made include online shopping and banking, plus tv text to mobiles, as well as cut the call cost like 10Cents Per minute is not on.

anyway let me know what ye think,

    Regards netwhizkid

Needs improving. I reged a Talk21 email addy to try the services out, and found using the standard remote a pain in the arse to use (don't even try writing an email with the remote in front of a TVlink) ;) .

What would be nice is the addition of AIB 24hour online banking (i believe BoI have equivalent). Online banking is very handy I find.

And a few shops wouldn't go astray. Maybe Tesco, Game, Virgin, Dunnes, etc. From what I remember from browsing UK version, you could see the goods offline, then go online to order them. Handy enough.

I haven't used SkyBet yet. But then, I'm a useless gambler!

a waste of time really, considering the most of it can be done on a PC for a fraction of the cost

Interactive is good, if you want to send e-mail & do not have a computer. You can write offline & then go online to send. Which is just as well because at 10c a minute (daytime) it’s not cheap. I found using the remote no more difficult than sending a text message. Not all interactive features are available. I tried to access my account & was told this feature was only available in the UK.
    Good: but could be better.

Generally I think it's good but the price of it is a bit much especially when I can surf the net/email cheaper from my PC.

P.S. I got a free keypad a couple of months back which takes the pain out of sending emails........

Its a very expensive way to email

It is designed to double Sky's revenue. Thats why NEW subs have to have phone for a year.

I won't connect my phone and have the Kids running up bills palying games that are free on PC, PS1 or one of those cheap "joypads" that plugs straight into TV. A very sad pay-as-you-go-Xbox :D

I read in the sunday business post that both AIB and BOI are in talks with Sky to offer their online banking via Sky interactive.

Isn't there a remote key board you can buy for typing e-mails on Sky?

But still, 10c is a bit much to ask. Suppose it might be okay if you don't have a computer at home, but otherwise, it would be a bit doolally using it. Plus unless you have a yahoo a/c already, chances are you'll have to open a new one.
