Saw on the inside of the back page of today's Irish Times that the government had placed an advert tendering for a consultant to advise on rollout of broadband to primary and secondary schools.

    Just thought I'd mention it.

I think it mentioned a url something like www.tenders.irlgov.ie.

The Tender is called 'Study on Broadband Connectivity to Schools',
nothing to get too excited about yet me thinks. Although things are looking more positive than they have been for a while, especially in light of the DOC funding wireless trials etc.

Me thinks the gov is waking up to the fact it can't depend on Eircom et al to provide broadband, no matter how much dosh they provide for backhaul infrastructure.
