Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The follwing news is from this morning's Irish Independent.

Sky's interactive TV features email, betting .

SKY yesterday launched its interactive digital television service which allows users to send emails, play computer games and bet on sporting events over their TV sets.

The system is available to subscribers to the Sky satellite system which currently has 255,000 customers in Ireland.

The company's director of Irish operations, Mark Deering, said he hoped RTE 1, Network 2, TV3 and TG4 would offer interactive services through Sky, so viewers could vote on events like the Rose of Tralee.

The company said it was in talks with an Irish airline and financial institution which could lead to consumers booking flight tickets or conducting transactions over the digital platform.

Consumers will be able to send emails by plugging their phone lines into their set top boxes.

The telecoms infrastructure is provided by Nevada, but subscribers do not need to switch phone companies to use the system.

The digital platform will not be available to customers of cable companies NTL and Chorus. Both cable groups offer digital TV with additional channels in certain areas Chorus also offers a full telecoms service.

Sky began operations in Ireland in 1998 and now claims to have satellite dishes on 20pc of Irish homes.

Mr Deering said the average revenue per user in Ireland was €550. Sky has now invested €85m in the Irish market. Digital subscribers can receive up to 350 channels. Following the controversial FAI rights deal, Mr Deering said the company was awaiting Government legislation on the matter.
