my isdn line is down again, second time its happened in 6 weeks. This time its been down for over a week. It went dead on tuesday 12th november and has not come back to life since. I've been calling eircom repairs every day to get some action done about it. There was an engineer out last friday but my line is still down. Is there some legal action I can take (just a threat) to get some proper action? Its dragging on now far to long and I'm paying line rental + UtvIp ..... but not able to use it

Not sure about legal action, but they do have a Customer Charter somewhere, where they promise to fix faults within a specified period, or else give you a credit. Check out their website.

EDIT: I couldn't find anything on the website but on page 10 of the 2003 directory (01 area) they say if a fault isn't cleared within 2 working days, you can claim 2 months free rental. If you want the full text, let me know.

Damn, I just read the small print.
The terms of our customer service guarantee do not apply in the case of ISDN lines.

    Sorry about that. :(

EDIT: That said, why not get the ODTR to give them a boll****ng?

Eff that, 10 days? Demand to be reimbursed for those 10 days!

They probably did it 'cos they know you're on UTV.

They act like spoilt little b*stards. Which they are.

My ISDN line went down Friday evening, dead, no carrier signal. Coincidentally I signed up for UTV less than 2 months ago, my lines been working fine the past 2 years without interruption.

Guess I'm in for a long wait :/

Same happened to me when i switched to utv. Line went down twice, always on a wednesday or thursday conveniently for eircon not to fix it until the following monday. It mysteriously came back on a sunday night despite the fact they telling me that they don't work on Sundays !

Line was grand before i switched
