Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Talked about before, but... RTÉ on Sky Digital in N.Ireland!

The family here were talking about having RTÉ aerials installed for some time. A local TV/satellite installer was around at our house to replace the cable between the dish and the Dodgybox as the old one was nearly 10 years old, had a join in it and wasn't satisfactory. The new cable gives a good improvement. But anyway, the installer is someone we've known for years and has great experience in aerial installiation etc. and anything we've got off him has been top quality without ever a breakdown. The big problem is the quote he gave for it to be run to all three TV's in the house including the Sky box - £300 max (€500 approx.)! We could probably get a cheaper quote but this guy says to use that he never uses cheap quality components for installiations "unlike some others in the area".

They were asking about RTÉ on Satellite and were worried that if they splashed out so much money for the aerials only for RTÉ to come on to Sky for Northern Irish viewers in the near future then the money invested for terrestial reception of RTÉ would be seen as a large waste. It's been a while since any of this was discussed, and I know that the main problem has been because of copyright clearence of programs. The last newspaper report I read said that it might not be until at least Easter at the earliest. We could easily wait that long if needed. Does anyone know of any more developments in recent times? It's all gone very quiet...

The advantages of going ahead with the aerial are that your parents will get RTE directly and do not have to worry if and when it comes..Remember that when it does come on sky, they<sky> could decide to take it away anytime they wish.

300 quid is a lot of money ,I am sure you could even do it yourself for a lot less. You only have to look at your neigbours to see where it is pointed etc.
    Success!!!!!!!!

When RTE etc is on Sky in NI (TG4 might be first as it is ONLY station specifically covered in Belfast agreement), it will be Family pack minimum.

Which would nearly pay for THREE dvd re-released Cinema titles a month and FTV (no PAY sky anything) is SOOOO good in UK/NI. (compared with free anything any whereelse).

    Get aerial.

But don't DIY unless you understand Ladders, roofs and poles.
