Musically, Dälek is dark. It's like that Prodigy video with the alligator but with a better soundtrack.

Dälek stay true to themselves & speak of disenfranchisement with the Hip Hop scene & demonstrate their take on Hip Hop as a progressive form of art, not mere commercialism. The group takes music to an extreme which appeals to audiences of all kinds. This is evidenced by the diverse tours & collaborations the group takes part in. They have been noted for their sounds' "collage aesthetic", taking cues from the early Bomb Squad productions and infusing Hip Hop with the likes of Faust, My Bloody Valentine & the Velvet Underground. Lyrically, Dälek as an MC lays down ideas & thoughts far outside of current Hip Hop. Throw into this mix a DJ who has been touted as one of the most groundbreaking around and you are left with... with a metaphorical jumbogumbo of goodness.

Their latest release, "from filthy tongue of gods and griots" is out now on Ipecac Records, Mike Patton's (of Faith No More/Fantomas) label.

They have played with such varied groups as EC8OR, Isis, Prince Paul, DJ Spooky, The Rye Coalition, Lovage, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Pharcyde, Techno Animal, Tomahawk, Funkstrong, and The Roots (to name a few). Not to mention their studio and on-stage collaborations with Avant-Garde Jazz artists like William Hooker and Ravish Momin, to electronic artists like Kid606, Velma, and the legendary Krautrock super-group Faust.

If you like cLOUDDEAD or Alias, it's very likely that you will like Dälek.
