    Hi,

We're about to jump ship, with Esat ADSL in three locations - Cork, Waterford and Sligo.

We want to put in our own routers/NAT, but we want to have ISDN backup as those babys are important for us. Plus, we want to support ourselves, not listen to Greensleeves from Esat.

Anybody got any suggestions as to what router/NAT equipment we should put in place that's -

    (a) easy to support from a remote location
    (b) allows bandwidth throttling, user survellance and general BOFH'ness
    (c) does not break the bank.

Ciso/Zxytel are the front runners at the mo', but bonus points for file/print sharing, WLAN and general groovyness.

    Any ideas?

If you do get any other hardware your wasting your money, Esat will only support the equipment that they provide and that is pre-configured by a third party vendor on site at the installation point.
What is being run is like their own version of broadband for example to set up your router you will need IP's VPI/VCP and username and password, the Esat connection works in bridge mode and the modem provided acts as an NTE, there is no username and password so you will most likely not be able to use the hardware.
Your best bet is to use the Esat equipment but your going to need to connect a proxy or Nat box to the modem to share the connection accross the Lan(s)

    Hi,

Having done a bit of research, the Snapgear (http://www.snapgear.com) Solo+ looks the job.

NAT, VPN, plus dial-backup as necessary.

    Now, anybody know a supplier?

The best I can do on the cisco is about 2.5k - the snapgear is about EUR500.

    best,
    ruairi
