    Hi,

Just a little update on that issue I raised awhile ago.

I mailed the Vbullitin people and they say that the new version, VB3, is hoping to achieve XHTML 1.0 compliance. Which is good news for all. (o:

Also means that page weight for boards.ie will drop significantly which will be useful from a bandwidth and load POV.

Why would XHTML 1.0 compliance mean a drop in the 'weight' of the pages?

Making things XHTML means a move from inline visual control to control via stylesheets. As a result of that, you will cut out a hell of a lot of tags by moving visual control over to the stylesheet. The only code left is for data markup so it's considerably less.

The CSS stylesheet (or sheets) is only loaded once by the browser too so you save on bandwidth that way.
