    Hope someone can help

Have lost access to the internet last week modem (56k) internal won't connect to UTV or any other ISP

Got Eircon out to check the line quality and they say its fine

Tried a second modem and still same problem

The signal seems to repeat and repeat and just dial out or will connect and then say 'No Answer'

Has anybody come accross this before if I get Eircom out again they will charge for their useless services

    Please Help !!!!!

Eircom saying the line is fine does not mean that it is appropriate for data.

Get the engineer to dial into the Eircom network using *his* laptop and *his* modem. Then make sure that he records the fault.

Note that even in this case, Eircom are under no obligation to ensure that the line is appropriate for modem communication. I had an engineer in a while back and he gave up trying to contact the Eircom intranet because the page was taking so long to download. So he got back in the van and recorded that everything was fine with the line.

You need to ask them to perform a data integrity test on the line

Complain to COMREG.ie , tell them Eircom failed to fix the line first time. Names dates times etc. etc.

Your complaint is that you cannot connect at ANY speed where Eircom guarantee that you will always be able to connect.

This guarantee is in the Eircom Universal Service Obligation as agreed with COMREG. The guaranteed speed is 2400 but in practise you never get that low if the line is fixed. Curreently they are in breach of their USO from what I can see above.
