Is there a decent site or resource which gives you the basics of email and in particular working out what the hell the "failed message reports" mean

    Thanks

It could be a connection or server issue call your ISP or hosting company if it keeps happening.

Most of the Time it could be a mispelled Email address or the Reciepients mail box is full so it will be bounced back

What is the Error you are getting

it can be a different message depending on what is wrong for example this one:

"unable to contact destination SMTP daemon.
I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long"

it seems to me like the recipient's mail server is down

    another
"Remote host said: 550 User unknown"

I would guess is a wrong email address

It is other obscure ones that I cannot figure out

Which email client are you using?

And have you got Norton antivirus filtering your email? [is it even installed?] Most importantly though, Is this just with one email address or every one you try?

Should we do a vulcan mind meld to find out?

How about "relaying denied"? "Mail loops back to me"?
