How similar are the channel offerings from NTL UK and NTL Ireland (leaving out the telephony and broadband)? Is NTL digital in Ireland a poor relation of the Uk service?

The Irish digital channels are listed here:

    and the British NTL here:

As you can see Brian, there’s no comparison. I subscribed to Go Digital here for the entertainment package. Well actually, it was purely for Granada Plus, Sci Fi and Paramount. I’ll be cancelling my subs after Christmas — we really need the likes of UK Gold added to the basic package.

I subscribed in September, after a dispute with Sky, but will be leaving as soon as posible, not enough Entertainment channels, compared to other alternatives,

Apparently you can end the contract if they put the price up! Not too sure what happens when it comes down which is the case for NTL Digital subscribers!

Leaving out the the fact that your line rental is included in the price and you can have broadband for next to nothing, it's basically the same service.

My Dad is in N.I., which at the moment is "technically" UK, NTL wanted quite a bit for Broadband. His has NTL Analog/Digtal and recently added Sky as service is erratic.

Joined ESAT ADSL a few months age here as part of their trials. They don't seem to charge anything (yet). I think our 512K/256K will probabily be about 100 Euro a month. The dial up charge (for Internet access alone) on 64K ISDN was about 80 Euro a month + monthly Internet account sub at increased rate for ISDN....

NTL charge the same for broadband across Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland & England. The prices are GBP £14.99 for 128k, GBP £24.99 for 600k & GBP £34.99 for 1Mb. No installation charge on 600k or 1Mb & cable modem rental included in the price.

ESAT ADSL 512k for 100 Euro? They're having a laugh, & it'll be at your expense....

From what I could see NTL UK had about 25+ films per night on Front Row while NTL Ireland have at the most 4 or 5. Probably something to do with the ****ty cable in this country not being able to hold as many channels as the UK cable.

Why do NTL charge different prices (esp. for mmds) depending on where you live in the country?

    Dublin Prices:
    http://www.ntl.com/locales/ie/en/athome/dublin%20euro.html

    Galway Prices:
    http://www.ntl.com/locales/ie/en/athome/galway%20euro.html

    Waterford Prices:
    http://www.ntl.com/locales/ie/en/athome/waterford%20euro.html

What difference does it make where you live?

Because they can get away with it.

Seriously, I'm not being cynical for the sake of it, but do you think they'd get away with this cr*p anywhere else in the world?
