    A legend alights!

Jerry Dammers, the man responsible for a nations entire youth movement in the late 80's and who has blown clubs apart (with his recent appearances at the Soul Jazz 100% Dynamite nights) takes his big bag of records for the first time to Limerick, Cork and Galway this coming February. Now a top DJ expect ska, reggae, funk, hip hop and a few surprises as this master of manipulation makes everyone dance, dance and dance!

Keys player, Producer and DJ, Jerry Dammers could well be solely responsible for an entire generation’s musical education. Having grown up in the 60's listening to the ska and heady reggae-infused pop of Toots, Buster and Drummond, Dammers and friends fell quite comfortably into setting the tempo themselves – forming Special AKA in ’77 and playing their own brand of hepped-up ska cover versions. As The Specials, the band recorded hits like ‘Gangsters’ and ‘Ghost Town’ for Dammer’s newly-formed Two Tone Records. The label pretty much spawned an entire ‘scene’ almost overnight with bands such as Madness and The Selecter charting with No.1's and touring Europe and America throughout the early 80's. After the band’s split in ’86, Dammers turned his hand to producing (for artists such as Junior Delgado), playing with his band Jazz Odyssey and recently returning to the studio as a solo artist. An exceedingly accomplished DJ, Dammers now plays worldwide.

Support on the night will come from the Letterkenny based DJ Daithi Ramsay who has guested frequently at Soul Jazz’s 100% Dynamite nights as well as many respected reggae clubs and is one of the leading Irish DJ's of the Jamaican sound.
