1 Nokia 7650 (Vodafone Postpaid) + 1 dumb user = Help!

    Hi

I got a Nokia 7650 last week and while *ahem!* setting it up, managed to mess up the access points settings so much that the phone was unusable. As I remember, when I went to:

    Menu>>Tools>>Settings>>Connections>>Access Points

there were 4 access points already set up on the phone. I deleted them all (believe me, I regret it now!) and rang Vodafone Customer Care to get the settings to re-enter them.

They sent me the settings to enable the Vodafone live! and Vodafone MMS access points but 3 calls and one email later, no one there seems to understand that I'm missing another 2 access points.

I know one of them is email GPRS, and can't remember the other one - does anyone else on Vodafone postpaid have these settings and could let me know them? For setting up any access point I would need:

    Connection Name
    Data Bearer
    Gateway IP Address
    User Name
    Password
    Authentication

Any help very much appreciated! Cheers :-)

Thanks for that Zenith, but thats what Vodafone have already sent me (and what I found on their website) - it allows me to setup the Live! and MMS Access points but I'm missing two other ones - Email GPRS and another one I can't remember - can anyone with a 7650 on Vodafone tell me what the other access point is and the settings for it and the Email GPRS access point?

I spoke with Vodafone Customer Care twice last night, both times they tried to give me those settings although I explained that I already had them - finally they told me to call back today when Technical Support would be available. I called back and was told that the settings would be sent to my phone but the advisor couldn't explain *how* they would be sent. Several hours later...I haven't received anything either to my phone or email a/c :-(

I work in a call center myself and know what its like when you can't get the information that a customer is asking for so I don't want to harass Customer Care...I also realise it was incredibly stupid of me to delete these settings, (but I had messed them up) - but is there anyone out there with a Vodafone 7650 that could help me out?

the only other one I have (apart from wap.vodafone.ie which was switched off when the live.vodafone.net was activated) is isp.vodafone.ie - this will allow you to get your POP/IMAP email using the Messaging App on the 7650, or surf the "full" web using the WebViewer Java App from ReqWireless (best on pda friendly sites only)

you need to have access to isp.vodafone.ie set up on your account before hand - customer care (depending on who you talk to) don't always understand the difference between GPRS access points so better to call their Data Support team for ISP GRPS queries 1850 287 000

isp.vodafone.ie settings for bill pay customers, last time i checked this hadn't been released to ReadyToGo cutomers bur you can call the above no to see if it's available if you are a RTG customer

Menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > Access Points

    Connecton name:
Vodafone GPRS ISP (or whatever you want to call it)

    Data Bearer:
    GPRS

    Access Point:
    isp.vodafone.ie

    Username:
    your_email_address@vodafone.ie
or your_email_Address@e-merge.ie (if you already had an @e-merge.ie address and haven't had it updated yet)

    Password:
    Your My Vodafone password

A blank Username and Password will also work but they may switch this off at any stage, the email address username and my vodafone password are the ones they say you are to enter

    Authentication:
    Secure

    Gateway IP
    Blank (i.e. leave at 0.0.0.0)

Now press the Options button and choose Advanced Settings
    Phone IP Address:
    Dynamic

    Primary name server:
    213.233.128.19

    Secondary name server:
    213.233.128.1

    Press Back

    Press Back again

Your Vodafone GPRS ISP account is set up - you can use this as your connection method with Messaging Applicaion E-mail account (POP/IMAP) accounts

There are also settings for Vodafone HSCSD - but you are charged per second - but handy to use with the Vodafone Mobile ISP as it's an 087 to 087 call rate (do you want those settings also?).

If you are going to use mail a lot suggest you check out Active Mail from cibenix.com - a very good email tool that enhances the basic mail app for scheduling / and managing emails and downloads

    HTH,
    Brian G
